The deferral is NOT automatic and you must file a renewal application each year.
The Assessor's Office maintains a list of active participants and will mail renewal applications to those who applied in the previous year by January 31 of the current tax year.
You must have paid your first half property tax before submitting your application. And the application MUST be submitted no later than September 1.
