About

The Kitsap County Solid Waste Division, in partnership with DTG Recycle, is hosting a free Styrofoam collection for Kitsap County households. This is the only Styrofoam collection event scheduled for 2024.

Limited to one vehicle load per household.
Clean and dry household Styrofoam, including:
  • Packing material
  • Blocks
  • Coolers
  • Packing peanuts
  • Takeout boxes
  • Meat trays and cups
  • #6 Expanded polystyrene (EPS)
  • Colored EPS OK

Not Accepted

  • Wet, dirty, or moldy foam
  • Foam microbeads
  • Insulations, sealed foam
  • Foil-lined foam
  • Hot tub and dock foam
  • Soft or flexible foam (EPE)
  • Craft, florist foam

Prepare before you go

  • Bag all foam when possible to help reduce wait times
  • Secure your load to prevent litter
  • Remove tape and labels. Foam with excess tape may be rejected.

What happens to collected foam?

DTG Recycle will densify collected Styrofoam into blocks that are sold into global recycling markets. The material most often becomes picture frames.

No Tire Collection Event in 2024
Kitsap County is unable to offer a tire collection event in 2024 due to lack of funding from the Department of Ecology. We will offer this event if funding becomes available at a later date.

Low cost tire disposal is available at local tire shops. Leave your old tires behind when you buy new tires.

Questions about an event?
Contact us in advance at solidwaste@kitsap.gov or Kitsap1 360-337-5777. Sorry, we cannot accommodate early or late foam drop-offs.

Secure Your Load For Safer Roads

Secure Your Load

Use straps and tarps to cover your load. Litter isn’t just ugly, it’s dangerous. Unsecured vehicle loads cause more than 300 traffic crashes and up to 40% of roadside litter, annually, in Washington. Let’s change that.
