Writers Needed for Bremerton School District Measure

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 10, 2021

PORT ORCHARD – The Kitsap County Auditor's Office – Elections Division seeks volunteers to write an argument against a measure appearing on the February 8, 2022 Special Election ballot.

The measure is a Bremerton School District request for a Capital Projects Replacement Levy.

According to Revised Code of Washington 29A.32.280, districts proposing the measures are responsible for appointing committees to write arguments for and against each measure. The district did not appoint a committee to write the argument against the measures, so the County Auditor is seeking individuals to serve on that committee.

The Special Election Local Voters' Pamphlet includes official ballot titles, explanatory statements, arguments "for" and "against" each measure, and rebuttals.

Committee members must be residents within school district boundaries to draft arguments. Interested parties should contact the Elections Division by Dec. 14. Please email auditor@co.kitsap.wa.us or call 360-337-7128 if interested. Arguments are due by Dec 20.

Resolutions submitted by the districts for each measure are at the Resolutions page on the Kitsap County Auditor's website.

The format for writing arguments can be found on page 16 and 17 in the Candidate and Guidelines Book.
