Public Works Summer Employment Program

Earn money, build your resume, and get your foot in the door!

Join one of our Public Works teams this summer to gain valuable experience for your resume, and get your foot in the door at Kitsap County! Help us plan, maintain and operate Kitsap County's roads, utilities, and more!

Good pay & consistent hours
You'll earn more than minimum wage ($20.15 - $22.13/hour), work 40 hours a week, and receive a higher wage each summer you return. Most positions work the same hours every day of the week, so it's easy to schedule summer fun.

Build a resume & learn real skills
You'll join professional crews and perform work out in the community. We provide both formal and on-the-job training in skills employers desire and give you a taste of what it's like to work in government.

Apply once & get your foot in the door
As long as you keep meeting employment requirements, you can work four summers without submitting another application. And if you're thinking long-term, the summer employee program is a great place to make a first impression with a career employer; a number of our full-time employees got their start as student workers!

A few more reasons!

Internship credits. Ask our program staff about how some students earn credits.

Work with other college students. Most student employees work with a mix of full-time employees and student employees.

Flexible interviews. Interviews are conducted by phone or virtually during March and April. We will also have on-the-spot interviews at our Job Fair on March 19, 2024 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Work outside. Most student positions allow you to be outside all summer long.
