Kitsap County Primary Ballots Arriving

PORT ORCHARD – Ballots for the August 1, 2017 Primary were mailed to Kitsap County voters on Wednesday and most should arrive by the end of the weekend. This Primary includes candidates in seven races and a funding measure for South Kitsap Fire and Rescue.

The only candidate races in the Primary are those with at least three candidates. The top two in each race will advance to the General Election in November.

The Kitsap County Auditor's Office – Elections Division has issued more than 161,000 ballots, including approximately 9,300 military and overseas ballots sent 45 days ahead of the election.

The Local Voters' Pamphlets went out the same day as the ballots. A map in the pamphlet shows regions of the county that don't have contests in the Primary and won't receive ballots.

The county has 17 ballot drop boxes open until 8 p.m. on election day. Voters who mail a ballot must do so early enough to ensure it is postmarked by August 1. Voting Centers are open Election Day in the County Administration Building in Port Orchard and at the Poulsbo Fire Station near Highway 305. Drop box locations are available at kcowa.us/vote.

Registered voters who do not receive a ballot by July 19, or who have damaged or lost their ballot, should request a replacement by contacting the County Elections Division at auditor@co.kitsap.wa.us or at (360) 337-7128.

Washington residents not currently registered in this state have until 4:30 p.m. on July 24 to register in person at the county elections office at 619 Division Street in Port Orchard. Members of the military have until 8 p.m. on Election Night to register.
