We Need Volunteers like you!
The Citizens On Patrol are a valuable asset to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office. These volunteers have a limited commission to enforce parking laws, do vacation house checks, keep the roadways clear of abandoned vehicles and conduct traffic control. They also assist with community events, junk vehicles on private property, courtesy boat inspections, security home inspections, and other tasks as needed.
The Citizens On Patrol program is in great need of volunteers. Applications are now open for those dedicated to helping others who want to support the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office while improving the quality of life for citizens.
The Citizens On Patrol serve as eyes and ears of law enforcement, report suspicious activity, and safely supplement the Sheriff's Office presence throughout Kitsap County.
This is an ideal program for retired law enforcement, veterans, and others, to help out and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow volunteers. Citizens on Patrol volunteers receive special training and work in teams of two. Training, uniforms, and vehicles are provided.
Volunteers must be able to pass extensive criminal and credit background checks including a polygraph exam, have an excellent driving record, commit to about 16 hours per month, and attend monthly training sessions and meetings. Those working full-time or serving on active military duty may find it difficult to meet these time commitments.
