KITSAP COUNTY FAIR & STAMPEDEAUGUST 22ND - 26TH 2018
OLYMPIC PENINSULA WOODTURNERSWe are an organization in Kitsap County of about 125 members. The skills of the members range from beginning novice to professional. We meet monthly to support each other with sharing, learning and demonstrations. Each month we have a “Show and Tell” of member’s work, a wood auction of donated wood which raises money to fund the monthly demonstrations of different turning techniques. We are a Chapter of the American Association of Woodturners which is a National organization. Our meetings are the last Wednesday of the month, 6:00 PM in Chico at the Seventh Day Adventist School Gym. We are on Facebook at OPCAAW and also have a web page at www.OPCAAW.com. Please visit us in the Presidents Hall. There will be live demonstrations going on all day every day of the fair. We look forward to meeting you and showing you what we do. Larry Lemon – President
BREMERTON NORTHERN MODEL RAILROAD, INC.The Bremerton Northern Model Railroad (BNMR) has its roots in a loosely knit group of Kitsap County model railroaders who met periodically in each other’s homes. In late 1972 this group began holding organizational meetings, and in February of 1973, received their Charter. The BNMR is a 401c7 organization. We are a 100% National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) Club. The NMRA is an organization formed to advance the global scale model railroading community through education, advocacy, standard and social interaction. The NMRA is divided into Regions. We belong to the Pacific Northwest Region (PNR). Each Region is divided into Divisions. We belong to the fourth Division. The BNMR is the parent corporation of multiple scale model railroads. Currently, the only operational Division is the Kitsap Western. The Kitsap Western is a sectional HO freelanced, nonspecific prototype, railroad. Recently, a new NTRAK Division has formed and is currently establishing standards and building modules. Currently, we show at Kitsap County Fair & Stampede, various model railroad shows, area retirement homes, and the Veteran’s Home at Retsil, Washington. We meet monthly and discuss club business, upcoming shows, and publish an electronic newsletter, “The Flimsy Board”. Our layout was designed by a longtime member, Eric Rudolph, as a sectional layout with elevation changes and movement from the front to the back of the modules. The layout is wired so that we can run either DC or DCC power. There is a total of 20 modules which can be arranged in three different configurations. The largest is 30’x34’, the intermediate is 18’x22’, and the smallest is 14’x18’. The layout has approximately 300’ of track. Our mainline tracks are code 100, and our branch line is code 83. Our design radius for curves on the mainline is 44.5 inches and 33 inches on the branchline. The layout scenery is based on the 1950-1960 era. Our crowd-pleasing “World Famous” Durfee’s Starburst Mine allows us to introduce youngsters to the fun side of model railroading.
