Kitsap County Public Works is closing a portion of Panther Lake Road West beginning July 17 and expected to remain closed until late August. This project replaces an existing culvert located on the north side of Panther Lake near a wetland complex. The deteriorating metal culvert there is being replaced with a new 12-foot span, three-sided precast concrete culvert. Replacing the culvert there improves roadway safety, and enhances fish passage.
The road closes to all vehicles and pedestrians at the construction area. A detour route is established and will be posted on Bear Creek Dewatto Road. Private drives will remain accessible at all times during the construction.
The 1.5 month-long project is being done by Mike McClung Construction Co. from Buckley Washington under an $180,000 construction contract. Crews will be onsite working Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
